As I face the big "Six Zero", I'm glad to still be alive on planet earth. I know my best days are ahead of me.
My life is no longer about leaving behind some great body of music that gets re-discovered in 20??. It's about the imprint I leave on the the people God has put in my life. It's about wanting their life to have been a little better in some way for having known me (and me for having known them). That is what I really desire at this new season. Over the years I've blown up enough bridges. Never deliberately, but out of my own ignorance. Promising something and not keeping my word is usually the detonator. I know how I've felt when promises were made to me and not kept.
I love inspirational quotes. I guess I'm an idealist. I like how great quotes motivate me to be a better person. I love sharing them with people. This new season I want to share them by "living them."
I've lost a lot of dear friends since we moved to Utah six years ago. It's reminded me again how precious each day and each relationship is.
I hope I get to live into my nineties. I truly am thankful for the life I have lived to date though. God has been very gracious to me. "Life didn't turn out the way I thought it would. It keeps getting better."
Just some random thoughts as I turn sixty.~Richard
